Unlock the potential of your workplace

Since 2013 we’ve been creating alignment between workspaces and ways of working to optimise the flexible, modern Workplace Experience.

Results for our clients

The client’s challenge

Over 240 people worked for this local government employer in a 1960’s style building that was due for an upgrade. With architects on contract to provide a modernised design, the project team needed to get clear on their interior design requirements.

The organisation’s leadership team had differing views of one workplace model over another. A 50-50 divide kept the executive team from settling on a model that would best suit their organisation’s unique goals. As a result, the programme team found it difficult to get direction.

Transformed Teams solution

Over a series of three workshops and two site visits, we worked with the executive team to understand the implications of five different workplace models.

We clarified resource requirements, people and culture impacts and the change management support required to do each model effectively.

We involved their middle management tier in a workshop designed to develop their understanding of the options and gather their input.

The process was designed to help the executive team see the key factors that mattered, and to work together as a team.

The result for our client

At the final workshop, the executive team made a clear decision, which gave the programme team and architects the direction they were looking for. Four weeks later the decision had stuck and the programme was able to proceed in confidence. We provided a set of interior design requirements to the organisation’s architect partner so that they could proceed with their contracted work.

“Nina was able to introduce us to how modern organisations have adapted their workplace and ways of working […] the workspace design component of the project would have the biggest and most lasting impact in terms of organisational culture change, staff wellbeing and satisfaction, and modernising the way we work.”

The client’s challenge

This large employer with city offices in Auckland and Wellington needed to consolidate several city locations in both cities. One office in each city would improve collaboration across business areas. To make it work, they needed to fit more people into less space.

Transformed Teams solution

We defined the future direction, delivered workplace strategy and worked closely with the supporting business areas, including providing People and Culture support.

Our skill in quickly connecting with all members of the organisation meant we heard all issues and could formulate a wholistic approach to workplace transformation. This ensured the organisation’s vision would be delivered by Facilities, Technology and HR teams working together. We loved this project and value the staff who asked us to “Come back again.”

The result for our client

This large employer was able to provide a dynamic collaborative work hub for their people, whilst reducing the number of desks by 35%. The resulting reduction in floor space meant they now pay less rent.

“Nina from Transformed Teams, helped us steer the programme in the right direction.  She became a highly valued contributor and we drew significantly on her experience, insights and resources.”

The client’s challenge

Take the urgent need to communicate complex ideas and the need to work flexibly and remotely. Add all the uncertainties of the COVID-19 pandemic. Combine that with an evolving political landscape. These were some of the major challenges faced by this NZ Government Department in 2020.

Transformed Teams solution

Working with this clients’ executive team, we quickly understood their challenge and had a plan in place before lockdown in March 2020. Resolving complex leadership and management challenges for flexible work is one of our specialties. We worked to align executive and middle-managers.

The result for our client

Through tailored workshops, the executive team made key decisions and managers became informed.

  • Executive leaders came to fully understand the challenge. They made key decisions to align the organisation successfully.
  • Managers developed their abilities to lead flexible teams.
  • Using our proven framework for successful flexible workplaces, we left no stone unturned so that the organisation was left with a clear direction to shape its flexible future.

“The executive sessions were exactly what we needed. For subject matter expertise on flexible work there is just no one else.”

What our clients say about us

The client’s challenge

An ambitious leader wanted his team members to develop a flexible mindset.

In this team of around 40 people, some team members were resistant to change. Friction arose when their approach started to hold back progress. Our client wanted to create an attractive team culture that motivated all his team members – one where everyone was encouraged to work and think flexibly.

Ultimately, the client believed that if they could move to a flexible workstyle, it could be a powerful symbol of a new culture. Working through the challenges together would build teamwork. Together the team could become more innovative and adaptable.

Transformed Teams solution

Transformed Teams prepared managers and teams to work flexibly by:

  1. Pre-assessment with our Flexible Work Exploratory Survey
  2. Employee and manager training
  3. Moderate team co-design workshops
  4. Supported eight-week team trials
  5. ‘TechShop’ sessions facilitated through the organisation’s IT support
  6. Consolidated team charters, reflecting learnings
  7. Post-assessment via our Flexible Work Post-Trial Survey

The result for our client

The client achieved a significant boost in work culture:

  • Job satisfaction rose from 76% to 91%
  • 71.4% of team members reported a positive impact on their wellbeing
  • 28.6% agreed that the quality of their work was impacted positively
  • Overall engagement rose from 72% to 85%

Our client was particularly pleased that team members who were previously resistant to change joined the journey. Several started to work flexibly themselves and anecdotally, previous issues they had held fell by the wayside

Flexible mindset and ways of working

“The culture around flexible work is now really positive… There are no negative connotations.”

Attracted a high-powered CEO

The client’s challenge

A ten person, self-funded membership business wanted to transition their physical office to a 100% distributed workplace.

As part of their larger business strategy, the board wanted to attract a high performing CEO who could help them position for the future. The CEO believed that a 100% distributed work model could help the business to recruit more freely; without a physical office the organisation could recruit new team members no matter where they were based.

Transformed Teams solution

Transformed Teams transitioned managers and teams to a distributed work model, through:

  1. Team member training
  2. Problem-solving workshop for team and practical issues
  3. Updated performance management system to become outcomes-oriented
  4. New video technology to support remote work
  5. One-on-one coaching for team members and leaders
  6. Work, Health and Safety checks for home office set up
  7. Best practice employment policies

The result for our client

The client declared the move from the old model to a 100% distributed work model a complete success. All pre-existing team members stayed with the business. And when they needed to recruit a new CEO, the owner called to say “I’ve got a new problem, I’ve got far too many candidates to choose from – I am having trouble shortlisting them, they’re all that good.” They successfully recruited an experienced CEO to take the business to its next level of growth.

“Nina has developed tools and processes to assist individuals, teams and organisations to successfully transition to an impactful, more satisfying, new world of work.”
